====Adding a Political Party====
A person's political party must read exactly as they are listed on the candidate list or official roster. If we do not have the party available on our listing of parties, follow these steps to add the political party
1) In [[https://admin.votesmart.org/ Admin]], under "Data:", select "[[https://admin.votesmart.org/admin/parties.do Parties]]"
1) Using Ctrl-F (the Find function) verifies that the party you are seeking is not already on the list somewhere.
1) If it is not listed, click "Add New."
1) Type in the name of the party exactly how it appears on the official listing.
1) Leave the "Rank" blank.
1) Do not select an "Affiliated Party" without consulting the Elections Director. This is only used in special situations where a party on the state level has a national affiliation of a different name.
1) Click "Save"
