======Major Donors======
**Major Donors** are defined as: Members who donate $300+ in any one calendar year whether by one or multiple donations). In DonorPerfect database they have a "Flag" on their main page labeled **MJD** as well as a MEM flag (for member). Per our current system, once a person gets the major donor flag they get to keep it for life, regardless if they donate more than $300 consistently every year.
Major Donors are flagged because they have the potential to give Vote Smart large amounts of money, whether this by by bequest, stock donations, etc. We want to build long term relationships with these members!
Adelaide is the cultivator of Major Donors, as well as their main contact at PVS. Any and all communications with those with the flag 'MJD' should be forwarded on to Adelaide. This means any notes accompanying donations by mail or via online, any emails sent to membership, etc. Material requests from MJD's may still be handled by DevComm staff.
**Ways we cultivate Major Donors:**
- Adelaide writes personal notes on MJD thank you letters every time that they donate.
- We write or email them periodically to stay in touch. This is usually Adelaide, but could be Richard as President, or a designated membership staff member.
- We call them when RK or AK is in their area to see if they would like to have a meeting to hear about current updates and news of PVS.
- We mail them additional update letters throughout the year, as necessary.
