The game will run at 60 FPS on both PS4 Pro and standard PS4, but resolution will be different. The PS4 version will run at native 1600 x 900, while the game will run at native 1080p (1920x1080) on PS4 Pro. 4K resolution won't be supported on PS4 platfo
NieR was a charming game, but
NieR: Automata seems to have the potential to surpass it in basically every aspect. With
PlatinumGames providing its trademark stylish action, Akihiko Yoshida bringing his beautiful character design, Keiichi Okabe's music and the visionary direction of Yoko Taro, the pieces are really starting to fall in place.
After a bit of tweaking, we try it out and see how it feels. Then we tweak again, and test again, then tweak again, then… It’s repetitive work, but all this testing is essential to make
https://nierautomatafans.com/: Automata feel exactly as it should. Sometimes we end up spending an entire day just working out the perfect way to position enemies in a single fight scene!
Soon we'll be able to play the demo of the game ourselves. It will be released for PS4 on December 22nd , while the game will release in North America on March 7th, 2017, while Europe will get it on March 1
Naval combat is absolutely fantastic. It's a mix of collaboration, tactical thinking and old plain guts. It definitely isn't limited to just shooting your cannons. The helmsman's prowess and the coordination of the men handling the angle of the sails to get the best out of the wind generate an extremely compelling gameplay mechanic.
On the other hand, Square Enix mentioned better lighting and shadows definition for PS4 Pro, but from what we can see in the comparison screenshots above, and playing the demo, those improvements might not yet be implemented in the demo. That's quite understandable, considering that we're still about two months from release.
What you see here is a test level where we check characters’ animations to make sure they’re ready to go in the game. We also use this level to try out visual effects, like the sword arc you can see above, as well as special effects like clouds of dust, explosions and more.
According to the latest information broadcasted by Square Enix , PS4 Pro and PS4 render the game respectively at native 1080p resolution (1920×1080) and 1600 x 900. Considering that the difference between the two pixel counts isn't enormous, I did not expect it to be too prominent. Boy was I wrong.
The difference appears to be less visible during cutscenes, where developers probably managed to squeeze a little more juice out of the standard PS4 due to the controlled rendering environment, bur it's still quite noticeable in elements like
YoRHa 2B's hair.
Crossovers with Phantasy Star Online 2 and Monster Hunter Frontier Z were also announced, with the implementation of equipment and quests dedicated to
NieR: Automata . More details will be announced at a later d
KO: In the previous title we did have theme songs for each character, but currently for this game we don't have a track per character. Instead, I did create music per scene or per emotion, that can be used for any character at any moment. However if Director Yoko-san feels that a certain song fits a certain character more than others, then it might end up becoming a theme song for that charac
G: When this game was announced, it was basically one of my favorite directors, with one of my favorite developers, with my favorite character designer, and one of my favorite composers, and I was like "wow!" So I wonder, how did the idea of this "dream collaboration" come to
I made this concept art of an abandoned city by painting over a screenshot of the area as it looked in the unfinished game. Environmental concept art like this serves as a solid guideline for the team that makes all the environmental models. I originally painted this cityscape with much darker colors – though the weather was always pretty nice! In the end, I decided that it didn’t match the overall feeling of
NieR: Automata very well, so I brightened it up to what you see here.
After that, more gameplay was showcased at the 00:28:20 mark, introducing some of the RPG element of the game, including the refugee camp that will serve as one of the settlements and a weapon shop, that incidentally sold weapons from the Drakengard series. Incidentally, the Engine Blade , coming from a collaboration with Final Fantasy XV, will be tied to a quest in the g
The shooter category was crowded this year, and the competition was very, very close. Ultimately, Battlefiel 1 narrowly came back on top from at least four games that would have been worthy of the award.
This award is also special, as it comes with a second meaning, representing our respect for taking a decision that certainly mustn't have been easy, and that most studios and publishers probably wouldn't have had the guts to take.
