====Removal Requests and Deceased Members====
It is not unusual for members (or former members) to request removal and/or die. The most important consideration is that to actually remove a member, make sure that you remove the MEM flag. If you do not remove the MEM flag, and just add an RMV or DEC flag, the member will still receive mail from us. Additionally, only modify the MEM flag -- leave other flags in place.
Here is the procedure for handling removal requests:
~1) Open the member's record.
~1) In the contact field, create an entry detailing the circumstances of the removal request (eg, "So and so called sent a note saying that he is dead).
~1) If the member is dead, change on the Main table, change the MEM flag to DEC.
~1) Print out the member's comprehensive report. If the removal request came in the mail, put it in an envelope and put it in Richard's box. Make sure that you include your initials and a clear marking of why it's being passed to Richard (eg, RMV or DEC).
~1) Richard will take a look at the piece of mail, and will give instructions. If instructed not to remove a member, no action is necessary. If instructed to remove a member, replace the MEM flag with the RMV flag.
