===Introduction===
Over time the Speeches and Public Statements Sub-Department has developed a structured system to complete their core job of collecting, entering, and coding speeches and public statements. This page will provide a guide to the different types of schedules and their intracacies.

===**President and Vice-President**===
The President schedule is one that must be updated every day. This is because the President schedule contains the highest ranking officials in the United States government, the President and the Vice-President. It is important that there are extremely few errors made while doing these schedules, so be extra cautious. This is because, in addition to be the highest ranking officials, the President and the Vice-President are two officials that Vote Smart users look at most. This is especially true during a Presidential election year. Within this guide, there is also details about Presidential candidate speeches and public statements.

===**Cabinet**===
The Cabinet schedule needs to be updated every week. You may be unfamiliar with many of the people in the cabinet, however, they are very important. People in the Cabinet range from the Secretary of State, to the Secretary of Agriculture, to the Director of the Office of Management & Budget. These people are not elected, but appointed, and are not exactly "politicians." However, they run major agencies in the Federal Government and have an exceptional amount of communication between Congress and the President. Their websites don't have their name on them (in the url) like many Congressional schedules, but instead are the website for their agency.
