====Wrap Up Outline Template====
We have provided you with the following outline template. Ultimately this is your work, so you can deviate from this template but keep in mind the “Objectives and Guidelines” for Wrap Ups. If you have any questions, please ask a staff member. When you are finished with your outline, be sure to include a copy in the Wrap Up folder for your state (it is okay if they are handwritten). ---
~I)**Introductory Paragraph 1** - The first intro paragraph will introduce the reader to the legislative scene in the state. Ex: Which political party is in control? Who are the leaders of the chambers? etc.
~I)**Introductory Paragraph 2** - The second intro paragraph will be a quick overview of your Wrap Up and help the reader become familiar with what has been happening in the state throughout their legislative session.
~I)**Body Paragraphs** - The body will consist of 3 or 4 paragraphs that each address a major issue from the legislative session. Oftentimes, you will find multiple bills related to the selected issue. When this happens, please use your judgement as there is no "right" way of addressing this situation, but know you can discuss more than 1 bill under any given issue. The following information will be helpful when discussing a major piece of legislation:
- Bill number or bill title
- Author of the bill
- What issue does the bill address?
- How does the bill address the issue? (Use our live summary to identify the major provisions of the legislation)
- Supporters arguments
- Opponents arguments
~IV)**Conclusion** - The conclusion paragraph will tie everything together. Also, you may include information on bills that might resurface next session but do not be speculative; here, you can also use quotes from lawmakers specifying what's to come in the next session.
Lastly, **[[https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/728/1/ Purdue University's Online Writing Lab]]** has numerous resources that can help you in writing this project. This resource is particularly useful for thinking about the structure of your Wrap Up.
