Summary Writing - Press File Highlights



Advanced Search Tool


After you highlighted the provisions of the bill, you will need to "Copy" all of the highlighted text and "Paste" it at the bottom of the press file. This would be a very long process if we copied and pasted each highlighted text. Therefore, we are going to use the Advanced Search Tool to make the process quicker.

1. Open the Search Navigation tool by pressing Ctrl F . Then look and press the downward arrow button to the right of the "magnifying glass"

2. From the drop down menu, select the "Advanced Find" button:

3. Next click the "Format" drop down button in the bottom left corner, in the drop down menu, select the "Highlight" option:

4. Then click the "Find in" drop down button, and select the "Main Document" option.

5. Now all of the highlighted text within the document is selected. If you press Ctrl C , all of the text will be copied. Scroll to the bottom of the press file and paste the text pressing Ctrl V .



Now that all of your text is at the bottom of the page, you can begin to find the information in the bill text.
