Summary Writing - Press File Comments
Comments on the Press File
We want to utilize the comments on the press file to help other interns and staff navigate between the bill text, press file, and bill summary. We will need a comment for each of the pieces of information highlighted and we want to include two pieces of information:
- Where is the information in the bill text?
- Where is the information in the bill summary?
Helpful Hints
- If a majority of the bills provisions are in 1 or 2 sections, you can add a page number to help locate the provisions int the bill text.
- If the same provisions is repeated over and over in the press file, you can select all of the different entries and use 1 comment. (See the example below)
- If the press file mentions a certain bill provision, but you cannot locate the provisions in the bill text, you can leave a "Not in Bill Text" comment.
