Configuration Information for Drake Office
Include any notes on configuration of the new IA office.
Network
Description from Drake staff:
- "more like a LAN"
- Still unknown if we will have an IP or block available to us
- There may or may not be a gateway available to us for configuration
There is a setting of 6 max devices (by MAC address) per ethernet port. If more than that many devices get connected to a port during a given time period, that port will be disabled. Drake can be contacted to reset the port.
Questions
- Is the LAN configuration up to us, or being fed to us via DHCP? - "You will have a network with a DHCP server that issues private IP addresses. We will keep some numbers out of the DHCP pool that can be used for assigning static IP addresses to hosts that need them – e.g. servers."
- Is there a gateway we can configure, or is there even a gateway router? - "You will not have access to your own router. We will manage the network for you."
- Will we have a public IP we can expose services on? - "A static NAT can be created on our firewall to provide a public IP address for any hosts that need to be accessed from the Internet."
