Interview Scheduling

We have found that scheduling interviews on a consistent basis is the best way to ensure that all staff can easily manage the high volume of interviews that will be conducted for each internship program. It is the job of the internship coordinator to ensure that interviews do not unduly disrupt the flow of the current internship or become a burden on any staff. The following guidelines should help ensure that interviews are scheduled in the best way possible for candidates and staff.

General tips:

- We have found that no more than 3 interviews per day should be scheduled.
- 2 staff members should always be assigned to each interview. One to ask the questions and one to take notes.
- When possible, schedule the interview in the conference room, unless it is otherwise booked. Be flexible with conference room changes.

Duties:

- At the start of each semester, once the current intern schedules are arranged, the internship coordinator should designate 3 times during the day (should be consistent through the week) for interviews. We have found that one interview in the morning around 10 and two in the afternoon around 2 and 3 have worked well for staff and candidates.
- No staff member should perform more than 2 interviews in a single day.
- All staff members should rotate in the performance of interviews.
- Create a calendar in Outlook for Interviews. This calendar should be housed in the General PVS Email account and will be shared will other staff.
- Create an "Interview" folder with a blank copy of the interview questions.
