Entering Votes - Finding Sponsors & Cosponsors

Nebraska

Finding the Sponsors and Co-Sponsors in Nebraska will depend on if the Key Vote stage selected is before or after the final passage stage.

1. Key Vote selected is on the final passage stage:

Example: LB 1092

From the bill history page, click on "Final Reading Copy":

Locate any names listed after, "Introduced by..."

The primary sponsor will be listed next to the headline "Introduced by" at the top of the bill history (blue arrow). The cosponsors will be added throughout the legislative process and they are noted in the bill history as having added their name to the list of sponsors (red arrow). The bill text can be misleading as it does not distinguish between sponsors and cosponsors and it also lists the committee in which the bill was submitted to. The committee is not a sponsor, unless specified as such, and you should rely on the bill history to obtain cosponsors.

Therefore, the PVS website will have both sponsors and cosponsors listed for this state, if applicable. In this case, the sponsor is Sen. Dubas and the cosponsors are Sens. Davis, Johnson, Krist, Lautenbaugh, Mello, Nordquist, Scheer, Schilz, Sullivan, Campbell, and Gloor.

2. Key Vote selected is prior to the final passage stage.

Example: LB 887

From the Bill History page, look for any Senator's names who have "been added"

Therefore, the PVS website will have both sponsors and cosponsors listed for this state, if applicable. In this case, the sponsor is Sen. Campbell (blue arrow) and the cosponsors are (red arrows) Sens. Dubas, Wallman, McGill, Haar, Cook, and Conrad.
