Evaluations and Academic Credit
During orientation, you will be provided with the most up-to-date information about course credit options at the University of Texas at Austin. Course credit is not required; however it is available to those who need it. An intern receiving academic credit for a Project Vote Smart internship has sole responsibility for knowing what his or her departmental requirements are with regard to reports and performance evaluations. Project Vote Smart staff will be glad to give students mid-term and/or final evaluations if students provide the necessary forms from their departments. Questions and arrangements for student reports and evaluations should be directed to a member of the staff early in the semester. The Project requires that each intern complete all of their required work hours in a satisfactory manner; however, the Project does not require the completion of papers, tests, or reports.
Every intern, whether receiving credit or not, will undergo periodic evaluations by his or her supervisor. These evaluations are also opportunities for the intern to give feedback to Project Vote Smart regarding the internship program, the performance of staff, and the organization in general. We encourage all interns to be honest about their experiences and to offer suggestions for improvement. Feedback from interns will have no effect, negative or positive, on their performance evaluations or, when applicable, final grades.
