VoteEasy Check Process
(2010)
To ensure the highest quality research, each candidate issue profile will undergo a series of reviews:
1. After a state is completed, the supervisor will review the research, looking for insufficient determinations and pieces of evidence that do not directly address the question. These issues will be noted using the "comments" and highlighting features in excel.
2. The second check will include a thorough review of all research by a second checker. The checker should pay special attention to the supervisor's comments. This is an important opportunity to catch citations that were missed by the original researcher. The second checker should focus on the following:
NPATs/PCTs: Confirm that the candidate's NPATs/PCTs are included in the research for every applicable question.
Voter guides: Make sure that if one candidate has citations from a specific voter guide that the other candidates also have those citations.
PVS Speeches/Position Papers: Make sure that the candidate has not recently released information pertinent to our questions.
Citation formatting: Confirm that the research is cited according to our formatting standards.
3. The research will be returned to the original researcher to perform the third check. The original researcher will endorse or reject any changes made by the first and second checkers. If the original researcher disagrees with a determination, everyone will come together to reach consensus (however the supervisor will be responsible for making all final determinations).
4. 2 weeks prior to national release of the data, the original researcher will perform a final review of the responses marked "Unable to Determine."
5. 1 week prior to national release, researchers will review each other's work, noting any final concerns (this should be performed by a researchers who was not previously involved in this state's review process).
6. 1 week prior to national release, a researcher will perform a comprehensive citation check to confirm that the citations meet our formatting standards.
7. The supervisor will re-check research and submit it to Director for final checks
8. Director will review research for national release
