DevComm is responsible for updating the Ad Square on the front page of the website, and working with IT to implement any pop ups.
Ad Squares
Static Advertisements- Make sure the design is approved by RK.
- Approved static ads are located in publications- ads for web - ad squares - approved ad squares
- Dimensions:
- Desktop dimensions are 950px x 560px.
- Mobile dimensions are 320px x 300px
- Mike Shultz says it should be a"JPG if it's photo-based, PNG if it's not, ideally."
- Familiarize yourself with Canva or another graphics editing program.
- When your ad or copy change is ready to go, submit a ticket to mantis with the ad, copy, the urchined link, the deadline, and any other requirements
- Submit the ticket in a week in advance if possible.
*If you are using a designer, make sure they are familiar with the requirements and put in touch with IT.
Videos
- only approved videos should be promoted
- current requirements: captions should not display by default and advertisements should not show at the end of the video
- provide IT with the link to the video on youtube, along with promo text to display alongside it
Pop-ups
- Only RK-approved copy and design should be used
- industry standards (also: here) should be adhered to, when possible
- If you are using a designer, make sure they are familiar with the requirements and put in touch with IT.
- Determine the logic for display:
- Which pages should it show up on?
- Where should it display on the screen?
- Should it display to new users or returning users as well?
- How many times should that individual see it?
- If there are multiple ads, in which order should they display?
- Does a user need to perform an action in order for it to go away?
- What is the call to action?
- Will be using a new or special landing page?
- When your ad or copy change is ready to go, submit a ticket to mantis with copy, the deadline, the logic for display, and any other requirements.
