Checks
To ensure accuracy and nonpartisanship, the Legislative Research Department relies on a series of checks throughout the entire process. These checks can be separated into three categories:
Vote Checks
Summary Checks
Web Checks
Wrap-Up Checks
Strict organization is necessary to keep track of where a vote is in this process. Therefore, within the folder storage cabinet or bin there should be individual hanging folders for each step in the process where the physical folders will be kept. As a bill progresses through the process, we will update its status in the internal database (e.g. Vote Live, Summary Written, Summary Live). This allows us to track bills without having to access the physical folder.
