Managing VoteEasy
Management Prep:
- Define "Major" Candidates for Inclusion in VoteEasy (Presidential is the only office we limit to major candidates as of 2014)
- Ensure Quality Control is tracking and adding candidates to our database for the races included on VoteEasy and make sure you are on the same page with being notified of any updates to the candidate list. Include Potential and Announced candidates as possible to get ahead with VoteEasy Research and make sure major Presidential candidates are designated as such in the database prior to release
- Finalize the VoteEasy questions to be used and the corresponding Issue Details, in collaboration with the PCT Research team and in accordance with PCT Research procedures. Ensure any relevant Political Courage Tests have been coded as an NPAT Form in our database, with VoteEasy questions properly denoted with a "P".
- The "P" in the npat form editor gives the question a "Profile" of "True" in the "npatrow" table - which means it is a VoteEasy question.
- Work with the Category Manager and National Director to categorize and tag all questions on the Political Courage Test, and consider how this might be used to narrow the evidence for researchers and enhance VoteEasy evidence on our website. Submit these to IT. Categorize and submit all state level and historical PCT questions when time allows- see: http://mantis.votesmart.org/view.php?id=6954
- Coordinate the transfer of Past VoteEasy Research
- Coordinate the selection and inclusion of Standardized Research
- Coordinate Individual Candidate Research, Checks, Imports, and Releases to the website and VoteEasy tool
- Determine if any changes are needed or desired for the VoteEasy app
- Each election submit Standardized Evidence for VoteEasy display to IT. See here for templates: http://mantis.votesmart.org/view.php?id=6369
- work with the Research Department to complete the content they are responsible for
- compile PCT questions to display (if IT can't just retrieve them from the npatForm); issue details per question; text for section titles per question (and order?);
- compile VoteEasy data release dates by state for Congressional data
